That’s the technical bit doneNow here's what I have to say on the Creek One Piece:

What an awesome bit of kit!!!

Let’s Start at The Beginning. The suit arrived whilst Darrell and I were running a UKCC L1, and being the kit freak that I am I just had to put it to the test right from the word go, within half an hour of unpacking it and checking it fitted (that’s another story) I jumped into the water up to my waist to test the zip, it wasn’t until I’d been there for a good half an hour I realised that in my excitement to try this suit out I just put it on over my normal clothes so if it leaked I was carrying on the course soaking wet.

Much to the disappointment of the student’s when I took off the suit after an hour or so, I was as dry as a bone.

The idea of the zip running around the inside of the legs is brilliant, it not only makes having a pee no problem for boys and girls, if we need to we can also have a poo without having to remove everything else.(unless you are wearing a one piece thermal as I found out). Once you get the hang of putting it on, i.e. you “Dive in” rather than “Jump in” it’s quicker to get in and out of without any help from your mates.

When the zip is done up you forget it’s there, unlike other suit’s where the zip runs across your shoulder blades or diagonally across your chest and over your shoulder. Even when they are done up they still seem to catch a bit on your BA.

Getting out of it took me a while to get my head around as I’d undo the zip but forget to take off my boots and remove my feet from the sock’s yes you’ve guessed it I’d be standing there trying to pull it over my head with my feet still in the suit. (Bet I’m not the only one who makes that mistake).

For the last couple of years I’ve been wearing another make of drysuit, like this one of Peak’s it had fabric feet and not Latex, “There’s a problem straight away I thought, my old suit had always had leaky feet” (its something to do with breathable fabric will eventually let water in if submerged for a long while) Peak have obviously used a far superior fabric so rest assured the feet on this suit don’t leak, even if you wear “510 boots”, and stay standing in the water.

If you decide to buy one of these suit’s make sure you get into a shop and try it on, as the sizing is quite confusing to work it all out. With my previous suit I ended up with an extra large as I have quite long legs and arms. With this suit of Peak’s they haven’t skimped on the fabric so I am more than comfortable in their standard large and still have full unrestricted movement, this means us lanky people don’t have to go up a size and end up with more fabric than we need around our waist.

On a recent trip to Scotland I decided to install the back / shoulder and elbow pads, these I found really easy to slot into the suit and once it was on, I didn’t notice any difference. Apart from when I had to shoulder my fully kitted out boat the shoulder pads made it that much more comfortable.

All in all with every joint we have, designed into this suit, elbows / bum / knees etc plus all of the other technical stuff mentioned above, this suit is going to take some beating on comfort wear and tear and longevity of use.

I’m so confident I’m tempted to get dressed up in a dinner suit, dive into my drysuit go for a paddle and meet my wife for a posh meal in a restaurant on the side of a river somewhere and all I have to do is jump out of my kit put on some shoes and walk in 007 style.

Well done Peak, a first class job and a first class piece of kit.
